Every First Time (a poem)

Every First Time (a poem)

This young girl
wandering,
pushing wheels
alone
on this smeary
field full
of creatures
given up
on this world,
absent of energy,
a reality that keeps
giving reminders
her eventual ending.

This young boy
running,
pumping legs
alone
on this undulating
grass full
of mud
given in
to the force,
absent of strength,
a reality that holds,
offering speeds
he eventually exceeds.
