Consequences Unquantifiable (a poem)

Consequences Unquantifiable (a poem)

Choices that dangle on thread before me
Weighing upon the neurons
Perspiration on the fingertips
Hidden from view.

Images that corner and counter desires
Cuts that come in the night
Opening for weeks
Eating what’s outside.

Muscles that alone cry out
Awash with complex fibres
Coated in acid
Elongated for touches.

Memories that leave no imagination
Ticks for no reward
Time bound in loss
Lessons with scars.
