Halved Life (a poem)

Halved Life (a poem)

and you’ll miss
your chance to win
from the digital
sponsors, designed
to deceive the mind,
distort reality,
determined to make
dreams into films,
edited and dressed
in fancy packages
that take hours
to consume,
sucked into a virtual
world, passive
behind the screen,
beyond the control
of buttons and choice
in how funds
are spent,
time lost,
distractions from
the problems
of earning to keep
all else running.
